Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp believes that new forward Diogo Jota will give the Reds more attacking options and that he will be well suited to the team and game plans.
The 23-year-old is the Reds’ third signing of the new season, following the addition of Costas Tsimikas and Thiago Alcantara.
Klopp said in statements, especially on his club’s website: “There are many reasons why we wanted to include Jota. He is a great player, young in age and has a lot of the right ingredients.”
He added: “Guetta will stick to the team’s plans, whether he plays as a forward or as a winger. He is one of the pillars of his team and a member of the wonderful current generation of Portugal. His presence will give us many options. I am happy he’s with us. “
“He speaks English well and is a smart player,” said the German coach of his new Portuguese player. “It would be a good addition for us.”
“The biggest common factor between us, Wolverhampton, the former Jota team, is that the team defends and attacks with the same force and Jota also plays this role, so we included it for the Reds.”
Jota previously played for Atlético de Madrid between 2016 and 2018, but was loaned out to Porto and then to Wolverhampton during that period, before the English club bought him for good.
With Wolverhampton, Jota has played 131 games, scoring 44 goals and 19 assists.
Jota played 4 international matches for Portugal, during which he scored a goal.
