Strange moments in football … the match Dortmund and Schalke before Corona’s precautions
The German team Ribdorf suffered a great defeat, with a score of 37-0, due to the fear of the players to contract the Coronavirus.
The team lost due to this result after playing the match with the minimum number of players, which is 7, due to contact with players from the opposing team, “Holdenstedt”, in a previous match, with a person who had tested positive for Corona virus.
Despite the negative attitude of the Holdenstedt players before the match, the Ribdorf players preferred to play the match rather than pay a 200 euro fine after Alitihad refused to delay the match.
Heldenstedt’s team did not play with the players of the first team but with the second team and, despite this, the Ribdorf players did not feel safe and left the ball in the hands of the opponent.
At the start of the match, a Ribdorf player left the field and passed the ball to a player from the opposing team, then the Ribdorf players moved away from the midfield.
Ribbedorf president Patrick Ristow told ESPN: “Holdenstedt’s players didn’t understand. But we didn’t want to risk anything.”
He added: “The players did not go into direct confrontations, and followed the rules of social distancing, with a distance of two meters between them and the Holdenstedt players.”
Holdenstedt’s players took advantage of it, scoring 37 goals at the rate of one goal every 3 minutes.
“There was absolutely no reason not to play this game,” said Florian Scherwater, Holdenstedt’s coach.
