The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, announced that the outbreak of the Corona pandemic is spiraling out of control.
Guterres added, in a press conference held this Wednesday, according to the satellite channel “Russia Today”, that the “Covid-19” pandemic is a crisis that does not resemble any crisis in our lives, indicating that humanity is close to crossing the threshold of one million deaths from the virus, calling the epidemic “The number one threat to global security.
Regarding anti-virus vaccines, Guterres said that “many people are counting on the vaccine, but by itself it will not stop the spread of the pandemic.”
He added: “The vaccine must be seen as a global public good, because the virus knows no borders … We need a vaccine that is affordable and available to all, a vaccine for people.”
The United Nations Secretary-General called on the international community to expand the use of new and available tools that can help fight the disease and provide life-saving treatments, especially over the next 12 months.
