A source confirmed that former French coach Patrice Carteron Zamalek had concluded his agreement on the formation of the team.
Carteron decided to use the penalty clause and informed the Zamalek management of his wish to immediately leave the team’s training sessions.
An official source from the Saudi Al-Taawon Club said during his remarks to “Yallakora”: “We have agreed with Carteron to take over the training of the team in the next stage.”
He continued: “We contacted Carteron to be with the team at the first opportunity to be with us in the AFC Champions League and prepare for the new season.”
“Carteron asked for the team’s training schedule to be postponed in order to be with Zamalek in the semifinals of the CAF Champions League,” he added.
“We assure him of our urgent need for him to be present early for the Asian Champions League and the new season in the Saudi League,” he concluded.
The Saudi Cooperation Administration had previously decided to fire Paulo Sergio from the team’s coach, due to the team’s fluctuating results in the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Cup League (Saudi Professional League).
The Cooperation Department appointed Abdullah Al-Asiri to lead the team, pending an agreement with a new technical director to succeed Sergio.
Saudi Al-Taawon tops its group standings in the Asian Champions League with 6 points from 3 matches, as did Al-Duhail Al-Qatar, and Al-Taawun finished the Saudi League for the 2019/2020 season, in the position 12 with 35 points.
