A military source from the Libyan Army General Command said that France has arranged a meeting between the army commander, Khalifa Haftar, and the president of Parliament, Águila Saleh, as well as the president of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord, Fayez al- Sarraj, next Thursday, in the capital, Paris, to discuss the latest developments in the political and security situation in Libya.

The same source added, in a statement to Al-Arabiya.net and Al-Hadath.net, that the meetings will be sponsored by the United Nations and with the participation of France at the highest level, without providing further details.

French websites questioned the possibility that Al-Sarraj heeded the pressure that Turkey could exert on the head of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord.

This meeting coincides with a strong and accelerated international and regional movement to resolve the Libyan crisis, and following last week’s negotiations between deputies of the Libyan Parliament and members of the Supreme Council of State in the Moroccan city of Bouznika, which culminated in a agreement on the distribution of sovereign positions, and other consultations between the two parties in Switzerland, on restructuring the Presidential Council and forming a government of national unity.

This upcoming summit also comes, coinciding with the escalation of tension and the media war between Turkey and France, in the context of Ankara’s increasing interventions and activities within Libya and in the eastern Mediterranean in a way that conflicts with interests. from Paris there, as the Turkish role in Libya is expected to be on the agenda of this summit.
