Mortada Mansour, president of the Zamalek club, announced his team’s intention not to face the border guards scheduled for October 12 in the league.
Mortada told FilGoal.com: “Zamalek will not compete with the border guards in the league.”
He stressed that “I will file a complaint with FIFA against Amr Al-Ganaini, head of the five-member committee, for what he did in Egyptian football.”
He highlighted: “What is happening is a sham, and I do not recognize this committee.”
Mortada concluded: “Zamalek camps 5 days before facing Raja in the semifinals of the African Champions League, and travels to Morocco by private plane.”
Earlier, a source from the Zamalek club coaching staff revealed what it described as “extreme dissatisfaction” with the league’s standings announced Sunday night.
“We will ask that the meeting of the border guards be postponed on October 12, because it is very close to meeting us in the semifinals of the African Champions League in Morocco, on October 17 or 18,” he stressed. (See details)
The Egyptian Football Association Competitions Department announced the dates of the remaining rounds of the Egyptian League competition, except for the last round.
The schedule includes all postponed matches in the league, plus the remaining two matches from the round of 16 of the Egyptian Cup, and two matches from the quarterfinals.
Hossam Al-Zinati, director of competitions for the Football Federation, revealed that there are several reasons for not announcing the dates of the last round, the main of which is the desire to hold matches that affect the results in the relegation of some teams at any given time, and as long as the situation clears up, the number of these matches will decrease.
“The last round will be played before the end of next October,” Zinati added in his remarks, according to a statement from FIFA.
