Construction work has been almost completely stopped at the level of all the governorates of Egypt, especially in the main cities and capitals of governorates, as well as the total cessation of construction works in 4 governorates, namely Greater Cairo and Alexandria.
The decision issued by the government on the suspension of construction and the issuance of licenses stipulated that a period of 6 months is in full, during which the licenses issued by local units and the City Council are reviewed, as well as work on the development of a new licensing format to be implemented immediately after the suspension period ends.
Major General Mahmoud Shaarawi, Minister of Local Development, had issued a ministerial decision assigning governors, each within their remit, to stop issuing permits for the establishment, expansion, elevation, modification or strengthening of private housing construction works, while the completion of construction works on the buildings in progress was halted, until Construction Requirements and garages became available, in the governorates of Greater Cairo and Alexandria, as well as in the capitals of the governorates and the main cities.
The decision stipulated that it will come into effect on Sunday, May 24 for a period of 6 months, so the 6-month period stipulated in the decision expires on November 24, after which the construction works will be completed, but with the new modality of licenses, which the Ministry of Local Development is working to develop in a timely manner. Present.
President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi had directed the government of Dr. Mustafa Madbouly to complete the required work regarding the new licenses and review the licenses issued within a period of only 6 months, in order to ensure that the interests of citizens are not affected.
