CAF leaders refused to accept requests from the Egyptian and Moroccan Football Federations to postpone the semi-finals of the African Champions League scheduled for late September and early October, as Al-Ahly will face Wydad and Zamalek against Raja in the Egyptian-Moroccan clashes in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Al-Youm Al-Sabea learned from a source in Al-Kef that the majority of the members of the competition committee rejected requests from Egypt and Morocco to postpone the tournament due to lack of time and the release of the new version of the African Champions League in November. Committee officials will hold a meeting via video technology today to confirm the holding of the semifinal competitions. The final of the two competitions of the African Champions League is scheduled.
And Moroccan press reports indicated that “CAF” will decide to postpone the semifinals of the African Champions League, after the Moroccan Federation announced new dates for its postponed matches in the league, including the Casablanca Derby between Raja and Wydad in round 25 on September 24, despite setting the date for Zamalek’s match. Raja on September 25 and Al-Ahly and Wydad on September 26 in the first leg of the African semi-final.
At the same time, the CAF asked the member federations to send the names of the clubs that will participate in the continental competitions before October 20 and said: All participating teams must adhere to the club licensing procedures and cooperate with their own federations as unlicensed clubs will be denied participation.
