Pyramids coach Ante Cacic said his team was the most in control in their match against Zamalek, but missed a chance to return in the match by wasting his penalty kick.
Zamalek defeated Pyramids today, Thursday, with two unanswered goals at the Air Defense Stadium on matchday 24 of the Egyptian League.
The Croatian coach spoke after the game at the press conference and said: “I congratulate Zamalek on the victory. We were the ones who controlled the game the most and had many opportunities, and at the time of the return, Mohamed Farouk missed the penalty.”
“Al-Tawfiq was not on our side and we made some mistakes. I ask the players to calm down in some of the situations they face during the match, which was the reason for Zamalek’s superiority over us.”
On the change of Ibrahim Adel, who was affected by Pyramids with his departure, he said: “He is a young player and seemed to be exhausted, so I preferred to replace him and pay a player who becomes capable of giving and after the change, we had a lot of opportunities”.
He stressed that “the defeat against Zamalek does not mean the opportunity to lose the competition for second place, but it continues. There are 30 points in the stadium and the team at its normal level can continue the fight until the last minute, and not we are going to give up that position in no way. “
“I’m trying to remedy the mistakes we made during training, despite the lack of time between games, and as I said, had it not been for the bad timing, we would have had a better result.”
Thanks to that victory, Zamalek reached 48 points, placing second, three points behind the pyramids.
Note that Zamalek will be deducted from three points at the end of the season, following the decision of the Disciplinary Committee to withdraw from the Al-Ahly match in the first round.
