Senegalese Aliou Badji starred to lead his team Al-Ahly to their 20th league win this season, at Al-Masry’s expense.
Al-Ahly defeated Al-Masry with two goals to nil on matchday 23 of the Egyptian League.
Badji scored early in the second half after a great game from Ahmed El Sheikh and Mohamed Hani, and the Senegalese came back and scored the second goal, scored by Hamdi Fathy in the 56th minute.
Al-Ahly broke the 60-point barrier by reaching 62 point and needs 17 points to officially win the league title.
While Al-Masry stayed at the 22nd spot in 15th place.
Training
Rene Fyler relied on duo Aliu Badji and Marwan Mohsen in the attack.
Mohamed Magdy “Afsha” sat on the bench, to join Ahmed El Sheikh and Junior Ajay as the stadium sides with midfielder duo Amr Al-Soleya and Hamdi Fathy.
Muhammad Hani played as a right-back and Ali Maaloul as a left-back, with center-backs Yasser Ibrahim and Rami Rabia.
On the other hand, Hossam Ayyad participated in the Al-Masry goalkeeper.
Austin Amotu led the attack, along with Ahmed Yasser, Hassan Ali and Omar Kamal.
The match started quietly and was stopped in the fourth minute due to Hamdi Fathi’s injury, before the match resumed as normal.
In the eighth minute, Ahmed Yasser, the Al-Masry player, got the first yellow card for the objection.
Two goals disallowed and one injury
Ayu Badji scored a goal that was disallowed for a foul by Marwan Mohsen with the Al-Masry goalkeeper.
A joint ball between defenders Marawan Mohsen, Hussam Ayyad and Al-Masry, reached Ahmed El Sheikh, who passed Badji and he scored, but the goal was disallowed in the 20th minute.
Al-Ahly’s control continued with Al-Masry’s reliance on defense and playing on counterattacks.
In the 24th minute, Badji scored a wonderful goal with a powerful shot from the edge of the area, but again the goal was disallowed.
This time, the reason for the cancellation was the presence of Marwan Mohsen, who advanced to Badji, in an offside position.
In the 35th minute, Amr Al-Sulayyah complained of muscle pain before receiving treatment and completing the match.
But Al-Sulayyah could not continue playing for more than two minutes to get injured.
Failer pushed Afsha in place of Amr Al-Soulia, as a forced switch to participate alongside Hamdi Fathi in the middle of the stadium.
Hit
The referee counts 5 minutes as time instead of losing. Minutes did not hit the net, but saw the appearance of the red card.
Ahmed Yasser is fired after receiving a second yellow card after interfering with Afsha.
Amin Omar did not hesitate to announce his second yellow card against Ahmed Yasser, to secure the expulsion of Al-Masry’s full-back in the 46th minute of the first half of Omar.
Shiny badge
Walid Suleiman participated in place of Junior Ajay with the start of the second half.
Badji did not wait more than a minute for the start of the second half to score again and this time the referee was counted.
A wonderful heel from Ahmed Al-Sheikh to Mohamed Hani, who is inside the Al-Masry penalty area, before sending a cross into the penalty area.
Badji received the cross with a powerful shot that hit Al-Masry in the 46th minute.
Al-Ahly continued to press on Al-Masry’s goal, with Badji brilliant in receiving and preparing for crosses.
In the 54th minute, Badji continued his brilliance to create the second goal for Al-Ahly.
A cross at the far post, Badji headed to Hamdi Fathy, who is alone in Al-Masry’s penalty area, and is easily slipped into the net by a midfielder.
A new goal for Al-Ahly through Hamdi Fathy.
With Al-Ahly advancing with a double, Tariq Al-Ashry paid the duo Mustafa Tayara and Baha Majdi in place of Karim Al-Iraqi and Miftah Taqtq, before Abdel Nasser Mohammed took part in Hassan Ali’s place.
In the 66th minute, Mahmoud Wahid participated in place of Ali Maaloul.
Al-Masry seemed greatly affected by the numerical shortage and did not appear at all on the offensive side and posed no danger to Al-Shenawi’s goal.
Unlike Al-Ahly, who did not leave the center of Al-Masry Stadium, Walid Suleiman nearly scored the third for Al-Ahly on more than one occasion, as did Afsha.
Saleh jumaa
In the 82nd minute, the duo Saleh Jumaa and Arabi Badr participated in the place of Ahmed El Sheikh and Marwan Mohsen.
Saleh’s appearance is his first since August last year, specifically when he participated in the Pyramids match at the Egyptian Cup.
Saleh Jumaa wrote his first league appearance this season, and his first appearance with Rene Fyler of Switzerland.
Saleh almost scored the net if it weren’t for his shot straying too far from goal.
The final minutes saw nothing to change the reality of Al-Ahly’s victory over Al-Masry.
