Licorice is one of the most popular drinks in the month of Ramadan, and many people treat it as a drink like juices and water, but studies have shown that it has a lot of damage, many of which can be overlooked.
As published by “Health” Studies have shown that licorice contains a glycerin compound, which in turn lowers potassium levels, causes high blood pressure and feels lethargic.
Experts also advise taking it, but in moderation, especially if you have weak heart muscle.
Every day, health declared that licorice should be avoided completely if the person is allergic or has any of the following diseases:
Low levels of potassium in the blood.
Cancer of the breast, ovary or uterus
You should consult a doctor before taking it if you have:
Nephropathy
hypertension
Muscle nerve disorder
Erectile dysfunction
If you eat a lot of salty foods
Nutritionists advise a pregnant woman to avoid it entirely because it can expose her to miscarriage or premature labor, and do not also take it if she is breastfeeding, as it is likely to be mixed with breast milk.
As for the side effects of licorice, they are multiple. If you feel any of them, you should go to the doctor, which is:
labored breathing.
Swelling of the face, lips, tongue and throat
Weakness and loss of movement in any part of the body.
Hypertension.
Intense headache.
Blurry vision.
Nosebleed
Headache, feeling tired.
