Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, a professional in Manchester City ranks, said Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool star, is the reason the Reds did not sign him in the summer of 2017.
“Before I joined Manchester City, there was interest from Liverpool, but as soon as they got a contract with Mohamed Salah, it was all over,” Mehrez said in an interview with “DZ Foot” on Instagram.
Mehrez shines remarkably in the 2015/2016 season as he coached his former team Leicester City to crown the Premier League title for the first time in its history, and the 29-year-old was voted the best player of that season in the English Premier League.
A year later, in 2017, Liverpool expressed its desire to sign Mahrez, as the player himself claimed, but the English team abandoned this idea as soon as they included Salah from Italy for 42 million euros.

Mehrez waited until 2018 to join Manchester City, the Premier League title, for £ 60 million, to become the most expensive player in the history of Arab football.
