Canadian police announced that the intense shooting that shook the rural town of Portabic in the eastern province of Nova Scotia killed more than 10 people.
Nova Scotia police said, at a press conference Sunday night, that the armed attack killed more than 10 people, but the exact number of victims has not yet been determined.
In turn, Canadian media reports said that the suspect included the shooting and a police officer were among the dead.
Local police previously reported that the attack was carried out by citizen Gabriel Wortman, 51, who was arrested and transferred to a detention center after a chase after trying to escape the scene.
She explained, in her initial report, that the shooting, which took place from Saturday night to Sunday, resulted in “multiple injuries”, while the attacker was dressed as a police officer and was also driving a car similar to the cars of the Royal Canadian Police.
Canadian police said they were still working to determine the motives for the attack.
Gabriel Wortman, 51, is the suspect in our active shooting investigation in #Portapique. There are several victims. He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see it, call 911. DO NOT go near it. They describe him as a white, bald man, 6’2-6’3 with green eyes. pic.twitter.com/Y2nJNULlkn
