Egypt announced that the completion of the construction of a buffer zone on its borders with the Gaza Strip and the destruction of 3,000 tunnels from which terrorists infiltrate Egyptian territory.

Speaking to him on Sunday night, he added that several tunnel openings in the border strip at Rafah were destroyed and discovered, which were used to threaten Egyptian national security and were used to smuggle weapons, ammunition and drugs, pointing out that there had been holes reaching 3 kilometers and more depths of 30 meters underground.
He said that with the completion of the construction of the buffer zone, the danger of tunnels will end and the infiltration of terrorist elements or the smuggling of weapons and ammunition will be completely eliminated.
The military spokesperson stated that the armed forces managed to destroy and thwart 630 explosive devices intended to attack the forces on the movement roads in Sinai, in addition to discovering 228 hiding places and 116 four-wheel drive vehicles, in the strategic directions of the South, East and West, some of whom were trying to penetrate the borders to reach depth, some of them laden with elements. In late 2014, Egyptian authorities began to establish a buffer zone with the Gaza Strip, 500 meters deep and 14 kilometers long, to prevent infiltration by terrorists.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian army announced Sunday the liquidation of 126 terrorists during the raids on Sinai.
The military spokesman said that the army carried out 22 raids and 16 specific operations in Sinai, killing 126 terrorists, who found several different explosive weapons and belts prepared for detonation in north and central Sinai.
He said the Air Force has attacked and destroyed 228 hiding places and shelters used by terrorist elements, in addition to the destruction of 116 four-wheel drive vehicles, including 34 vehicles in the strategic direction of the northeast, 62 in the strategic direction of the west and 20 in the strategic direction of the south.
Bir al-Abed offensive
Last Thursday, the army announced the killing of 10 soldiers in an explosion directed at their vehicle in the city of Bir al-Abd in Sinai.

Egypt has faced armed terrorist organizations in Sinai since 2013, following the overthrow of the Brotherhood and the removal of the late President Mohamed Morsi.
