Dr. Mohamed Moait, Minister of Finance, emphasized that the new tariffs to be imposed on gasoline and diesel will not generate any increase in current fuel prices, noting that this will happen as a result of the calculation process resulting from changes in the prices of gasoline and diesel during the last period, and explained that there was an area to reduce the price for a citizen and the availability of public treasury at the same time.
Moait said during a meeting of the House Planning and Budget Committee today, Sunday, that the current price accommodates the reduction for citizens and the provision of funds for the public treasury, explaining that there was a decrease in gasoline prices, 55 piastres, for example, saying: “We go to people 25 and 30 piastres go to the treasury The public and, therefore, the current price still has room to provide 30 piastres per liter of public treasury”.
He added: There has been a reduction in the value of a liter of gasoline worth 50 piastres twice, and said: “We are trying to preserve the price of diesel, and this adjustment guarantees additional revenue for the public treasury.” As for oil prices with global economic growth rates, the price level at which we will move will be, especially from negative growth rates in all countries of the world.
