Last Thursday, the military spokesperson for the armed forces announced the death and injuries of an officer, a non-commissioned officer and 8 soldiers, as a result of the explosion of an explosive device in an armored vehicle south of the city of Bir al-Abed, North Sinai.
Less than 3 days later, the Interior Ministry announced that 18 terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with police forces in El-Arish, North Sinai Governorate.
The ministry said in a statement that information was available to the National Security Sector about the taking of a series of terrorist elements from a house in Bir al-Abd, North Sinai, as a base and base for launching and carrying out hostilities.
The ministry added that the hiding area was attacked and exchanged fire with those elements, killing 18 terrorists.
In their possession, they found 13 automatic weapons, three explosive devices and 2 explosive belts.
