Tariq Al-Mulla, Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, presented the ministry’s efforts to establish fuel stations and convert cars to natural gas in governorates, during the meeting of the Energy and Environment Committee in the House of Representatives on Sunday.

He said the number of these stations is currently 250, and it was intended to double them to 500, but President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ordered stations to be established in all governorates, bringing the number to 1,000, thereby that the goal is to establish 800 new stations.

The Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources indicated that by 2023 Egypt will not need to import any liquid fuel from abroad, noting that the country has achieved self-sufficiency in natural gas since 2018, noting that work is currently being done in the regional region and the eastern Mediterranean. and the exploitation of a solid infrastructure and gas liquefaction plants, which indicates that surplus natural gas is exported at prices higher than the local market.

Al-Mulla added, during a meeting of the Energy and Environment Committee in the House of Representatives, that recent years have seen great success stories and that the gap between production and consumption has closed, and the state Egyptian caught the attention and interest of large and giant international companies that previously did not operate in Egypt.

The minister pointed out that the gas market regulation law allows companies to work in the gas chain, seeking, extracting, shipping, distributing and adding value, explaining that more agreements have been concluded with neighboring countries to import and export so that Egypt to become a regional country. natural gas circulation center, saying: “We work in the research and exploration sector. To develop natural resources and maximize the benefit from them for the benefit of all Egyptians.”

The Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources said about the volume of work being done in relation to the delivery of natural gas to households, that the delivery of natural gas to a number of 12.5 million households has been completed, noting A special initiative has been launched to deliver natural gas to households in installments for a period of 6 years without interest at a monthly rate of EGP 30.

The Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources noted that the ministry seeks to maximize the benefit of delivering natural gas to households, in addition to the ministry’s role in the “Decent Life” initiative and the development of the Egyptian village, indicating that a conducting a survey on the number of units that can be connected based on many considerations, such as the structure, infrastructure, and readiness of housing units and streets to enter homes with natural gas.
