The Lebanese Permanent Military Court, chaired by Brigadier General Mounir Shehadeh, issued two sentences in absentia on Wednesday night against the artist Fadel Shamander, known as “Fadel Shaker”, who sentenced him to 22 years in prison with forced labor, in addition to stripping him of his civil rights.
Beginning of the story
In 2012, artist Fadl Shaker announced his retirement from art, after a career full of romantic works that made him one of the biggest stars in Arabic song.
Jihadist group
Fadl announced that he had joined one of the jihadist groups, defending Syria against Bashar al-Assad, until rumors of his death appeared on social media, which made him comment that he is alive and wants to be martyred: “I would like to hand over the honorable heroes to the mujahideen in Syria, God willing. They will crush Bashar in Syria, and Almighty God will hold you accountable, Mr. Hassan, you and those you like, God willing, we will prevail over you. Victory is very close, God willing, and I say to the resistance fighters, according to God, we know there are heroic resistance fighters who resist against the Zionist enemy and face Nasrallah, may God take revenge on our women Oh, we are not in trouble, and you, we are the Sunnis, it is a guarantee for our Shiite people in Lebanon. “
Sentenced to death
Fadl Shaker was sentenced to death in absentia in 2014, after being found guilty of forming an armed gang with the intention of carrying out terrorist acts and attacking members of the Lebanese army.
Evolution of events
In 2015, Shaker confirmed during his interview with one of the Lebanese channels that he did not participate in any combat and did not carry weapons against the Lebanese army in the battle of “Abra”, adding that he did not harm or kill anyone and that the only thing that wanted was to use his voice in religious songs, explaining during his speech that his relationship with Ahmed Al-Asir, was only good at first, and that he was in constant conflict with him, and their relationship was strained before all the events of fight.
He added that the video in which he appeared earlier is not directed at the Lebanese army and does not speak of the country’s soldiers, hoping that his life will return to normal.
Another test
The Beirut Military Court handed down two more default sentences against Shaker, the first in 2016, who sentenced him to five years in prison and a fine of £ 500,000 for attacking a sister country during an interview he conducted from the Ain El camp. -Helweh in 2014
The court said that Shakir’s remarks during the interview led to “disrupting Lebanon’s ties with an Arab country, causing conflict and damaging the reputation of the military establishment.”
The second ruling was issued against Shaker in September 2017, in the “Abra Events” case, where he was sentenced to 15 years in prison plus forced labor.
A preferred patent
In July 2018, the Lebanese Prosecution Division issued a decision to suspend the trial of Fadel Shamder, known as “Fadel Shaker” and his brother Fadi Shamandar, and his lawyer, Samer Suhail Al-Anzawi, in a case of training of armed gangs.
