Edgerunners coming to Netflix in 2022

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to gaming consoles later this year, but Cyberpunk fans have another piece of news to appreciate. A Cyberpunk-based anime series is reportedly in the world and Netflix confirmed the show’s arrival on Thursday.

The anime series takes place in the same universe as the upcoming CD RPG Projekt Red. The Japanese animation company Studio Trigger will develop the anime series exclusively for Netflix. The announcement video mentioned that the anime series will tell the story of a cybernetically enhanced Night City boy. The boy becomes a cutting edge runner, sometimes also called cyberpunk, to survive in the city of the future. The young man is also a skilled mercenary outlaw in the city.

IGN reported that the new anime series titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will be directed by popular anime director Hiroyuki Imaishi. Imaishi has previously worked on popular anime series like Fullmetal Alchemist, Promare, and Dead Leaves. Renowned sound designer and composer Akira Yamaoka will provide the score for the upcoming anime.

The anime series will take place in the same city as in the game, Cyberpunk 2077. The ten-episode anime series will tell the story of a boy on the streets of Night City.

Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077 will be the biggest video game release of 2020. The RPG was slated to launch on September 18, 2020.
