Ed Ojeron says LSU’s ‘most’ players have contracted coronavirus

Louisiana State University football coach Ed Ogron revealed Tuesday that “most” of the team have caught the novel coronavirus.

“I think most – not all of our players – but most of our players have caught it,” Orjero said during a teleconference on Tuesday. “So, I hope they don’t catch it again and hope they’re not out for games.”

Asked for clarification, he continued, “I’m not going to say it all.” “But some players have caught it. I don’t know the percentage. Hopefully, once you catch it, you don’t get it again.”

Orgeron said the team currently has “about three or four people” who have the virus and a few different players – although he did not specify the exact number.

He added that all but two or three offensive linemen missed practice due to testing two weeks ago.

“Now that we’ve been in season better than all the camps, obviously we have to be really careful,” Orgro said. “Our people feel good.”

From 15 Camp Gust the university began to report an overall positive coronavirus, while students began returning to campus. Since then, the school has confirmed more than 750 COVID-19 cases, with 50 positive cases from September 11 to September 13.

Sports Illustrated reported earlier this summer that at least 30 team members have been excluded because they either tested positive for COVID-19 or had contact with at least one infected person.
