After George Floyd’s death after a Minneapolis police officer used his knee to pin Floyd’s neck to the ground for more than eight minutes, Dwayne Johnson slammed President Trump for not being a supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement.
“Where is our compassionate leader? The leader who unites and inspires our country at our most painful time when we need it most, ‘he said in a long video. “The leader who steps up and takes full responsibility for our country and embraces every color in it. The leader who lifts our land from the knees and says that you have my word – we have this – and together change will happen. Where are you? Because we’re all here. Maybe one day that galvanizing leader will come forward. However, the process of change has already begun. “
“Where are you?” he went on. “Where is our leader at the moment? Right now when our country is on its knees, begging, begging, hurting, angry, frustrated, in pain – begging and begging with its arms out, just want to be heard, begging and begging and praying for change. Where are you? Where is our compassionate leader who will walk to our land – who is on his knees – and holds out a hand and says, ‘You stand up, stand up with me, stand up with me because I love you got? ‘”
Johnson suggested that people should say the words “black life matters” if they want to be true defenders of the black life.
“It’s that compassionate leader who has to go back and tackle the country anew, give important context, give important perspective on the remarks that were just made – of course, all lives do, each one, all lives do, to ‘ “We as Americans believe in inclusivity, we believe in acceptance, we believe in civil rights, we believe in equality for all, that is what we believe in. That, of course, applies to all lives,” he said. “But right now, this defining, important, explosive moment, where our country is on its knees – the floorboards of our country are becoming unforgettable. At this moment, we need to say the words: black lives are happening.”
