Not a good time to buy a new Windows or OS Cause laptop. The upcoming Intel Tiger Lake processors are hoping for not only an increase in CPU performance but also a serious increase in graphics power. And initial tests of the chip are proving that it is worth waiting to buy a laptop with them.
Tech YouTuber The Chap got the pre-production model of the MSI Prestige 14 with the Intel Core i7-1185G7. It is the most powerful chip in the Tiger Lake lineup and comes with Intel’s new Xe integrated graphics with execution execution units.
The processor performance with the quad-core Core i7-1185G7 is set to give a reasonable increase in power over the 10th Gen Intel Ice Lake chips found in the choice of the MicroS Microsoft Ft Surface Laptop 3. But the graphics performance is a big boost to where Tiger Lake chips really are.
Various benchmarks and tests conducted by Tech Infection have revealed that the Core i7-1185G7 with the IR Lake CPU and its Iris Plus graphics outperforms many laptops, as well as machines with dedicated Nvidia MX350 GPU. It has even better performance than its Vega 8 graphics laptop with AMD Raizen 7 4800U.
This will improve photo and video editing performance in real-world use, as it allows ultraportable laptops to actually run some modern games at acceptable frame rates.
Tech Chep noted that some drivers had problems and crashed while gaming. But there are still early days for Tiger Lake chips. YouTuber also revealed that the MSI Prestige 14 is slightly cooler and better cooling than other ultraportable laptops, meaning it is likely to get more from the Core i7-1185G7 than some upcoming super-slim laptops.
Nonetheless, the chip managed to perform solidly in games such as Rainbow Six Seas and Fortnight. And before that Tiger Lake chips have been left in the wild and so it is exposed to further ization optimization and driver updates.
In short, Intel’s Tiger Lake chips are promising a major upgrade to the ultraportable. And that’s why you should stop buying a new MBK Air, MBKbook Pro or Windows 10 laptop yet.
Wait for Tiger Lake and Apple Paul Silicone
Apple Paul is considering moving away from Intel chips with its Apple Paul Silicon initiative. While we expect to see the MBQbook with ARM-based chip this year or early next year, the MBKbook Air and MBKbook Pro are still likely to use Intel processors for 12 months or more.
This means that if you want to get a new M-B book, we suggest that you hold on for a while as the Tiger Lake Chips will pop up in the latest version of its M-Machine. And it will increase graphics power without the need to choose a dedicated or external GPU.
Because of the leaks so far, we’ve seen a new 12-inch MBQbook with an ARM-based chip, as well as a 13-inch MBQ Pro with a custom chip. If Apple decides to drop Intel chips altogether from its MBQbook range, then the issue of catching fire when buying a new Mac machine arises; It’s definitely worth the wait, whether it’s Apple Plus Silicon or Intel Tiger Lake powered MBQbooks.
The same can be said for Windows 10 laptops. We are expecting new laptops from Lenovo, MSI, Dell, Asus and Acer all to get Tiger Lake chips, and we will bet as much money as Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 will use Tiger Lake chips.
That’s why we don’t see new game consoles in the form of PS5 and Xbox Series X this fall. Even more powerful laptops, just like the RTX 3080, the AMD Big New, and the iPhone 12. Winter is coming, and so are many new techs.
