In her latest interview about her best-selling book, Mary Trump told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Thursday that she heard her uncle, Donald Trump, use racial and anti-Semitic insults.
After Maddow asked her if she had heard Trump use the language, she replied, “Oh yes, of course I do. And I don’t think that should surprise anyone given how virulently racist it is today. ”
Maddow then tried to be more specific.
“Did you hear the president use the N word?” she asked.
“Yes,” said Trump.
Maddow then asked, “And specifically anti-Semitic insults?” Maddow
“Yes,” said Trump.
At the end of the interview, Maddow read the White House response to the complaint. “This is a book of falsehoods, plain and simple. The president doesn’t use those words. “
In the book, Too much and never enough: how my family created the most dangerous man in the world, It sold 950,000 copies through Tuesday, its first day of release, according to publisher Simon & Schuster. But Mary Trump does not claim that her uncle used the racist terms in the book and first made the accusation during her interview with Maddow.
At the end of the interview, Maddow asked Mary Trump if she was concerned if she felt she was in “personal danger,” given that her book chronicles her family’s dysfunction and the President’s inability to hold office.
“I am not afraid. I am taking adequate precautions because I am not deceived about possible scenarios,” she said.
He added: “Our family is quite vindictive and Donald has passionate followers … Whatever the consequences, I am prepared to face them.”
