Donald Trump gets boost from UFC boss Dana White on the final night of RNC – Deadline

“President Trump acknowledged that one of the small ways to instill a sense of normalcy in people’s lives was to restore entertainment options,” Dana White blurted out last night from the Republican National Convention.

“The president went above and beyond to help all involved sports leagues figure out a way to overcome the challenges of hosting live professional sporting events in the midst of a pandemic,” the UFC boss added shortly before the ex-Famous student host is set to deliver its RNC acceptance speech in 2020 from the White House.

‘And you know what, we did it. The UFC were the first to do it and we continue to do it. Now other sports have joined us. In one of a series of comments that were later aired on cable news, the MMA promoter neglected to note that the UFC made these first attempts to get back into business this spring.

Despite his outcry over Trump’s response to the coronavirus, which has so far claimed more than 180,000 American lives, White said it would cost the UFC a few false starts before holding a pay-per-view event on ESPN in May. An incident that saw a fighter and two employees test positive for COVID-19.

Of course, White ignored in his latest voice-over of all things Trump and complained of the “tons of negativity in 2020,” also in his pre-applied remarks to mention that teams in the NBA, the WNBA, MLB and the NHL are actually not playing tonight in or out of their coronavirus bubble. The sports strike was launched yesterday by the Milwaukee Bucks who refused to take the court to court for their playoff game against the Orlando Magic in response to Jacob Blake’s almost fatal shooting by police and more murder in Kenosha, WI.

Still, in what was essentially a repeat of his speech at the 2016 Republican Convention, the UFC president jumped back into the election octagon for Trump and his “unique attributes” on Thursday. “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, he’s one of the most loyal people I’ve ever met,” White said this evening. “The man was unstoppable energy, nobody, I mean nobody will overwork this man,” said the frontman of the high-volume mixed martial arts competition.

White praised Trump’s economic record and occasionally paused to catch his breath, giving White his mate a contest that “no person, and no place, could have anticipated the challenges that COVID would bring.” White also seemed to satisfy Trump on a mat that backfired when he claimed that only the coronavirus trumped out of the winner’s circle. “We did not stand for the lawless destruction that is now taking place in some of our big cities,” White said like Trump, White apparently not seeing the sad irony of the fact that such so-called lawless destruction “is happening under Trump’s watch.

Not quite big enough to secure a spot in the coveted 10 o’clock ET hour when the coverage of the broadcast networks begins, White took a slap down on cable news when his speech was ready.

Over on MSNBC, Rachel Maddow and other hosts on the Comcast property leaked out to White’s some self-interested remarks about the COVID-19 crisis and law and order in America, to name a few. “We just have a new wheelbarrow of goods that we want to get a reality check on,” a giggling Maddow added before talking to a real doctor about proclamations of White’s health crisis.

BTW – In addition to the Venn chart of their respective fanbases and POTUS appearing at a UFC match at NYC’s MSG last year, Trump and White are really going one way or another.

Long before Trump’s one-time agents Ari Emanuel and Endeavor purchased the UFC for $ 4 billion in 2016, the developer opened his warring Atlantic City casino for White and his fighters when they could barely get a place anywhere in America. “He not only had us for the first one, he also came to the second show, so when we left the Taj Mahal and we went to the Meadowlands, he even came to the event in the Meadowlands,” White Hill said. TV today of the relationship that began in the early 2000s.

And that’s the real company why Dana White appeared before Donald Trump last night, even when most sports are dark and on strike against systemic racism.
