Visitors to Disney World can no longer eat or drink while walking through the theme park because many people were not wearing face masks.
The park’s website updated its face mask policy, as noted by several Disney World fan blogs over the weekend. It still allows guests to remove their face masks while eating or drinking, but it asks them to remain stationary and socially distant from other people while they do so.
“Facial covers are required for all guests (ages 2 and up) and cast members. Bring your own face liners and wear them at all times, except when eating or swimming. You can remove the cover from your face while actively eating or drinking, but you must stand and maintain proper physical distance, ”says the park’s website in the face covers section now.
Facial masks are required in all areas of Disney World, but it was possible to use the loophole to eat and drink to avoid wearing them.
The park has been under fire for its reopening in Florida, where coronavirus cases have soared recently, after it originally closed in March, when the coronavirus pandemic was in its early stages in the U.S.
Dr. Anne Rimoin, professor of epidemiology at UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and leader of UCLA’s Rapid Response Initiative COVID-19, said Variety in early July it was a “terrible idea to open right now”.
To help prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the park, Disney World has taken some additional precautions, such as forcing improved cleanup in high-traffic areas, adding signs and barriers to promote social distancing, and creating cashless services to reduce physical contact. .
