Disney World has banned certain types of facial coatings

As local governments and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continue to modify and update health and safety guidelines, Disney has also been updating its official policy on facial covers for guests and its cast members. at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. The updates provide further clarification on which types meet and which violate the rules, according to a report from Attractions magazine.

As first reported by Scott Gustin on Twitter, a new clarification has been added to the Disney guidelines, specifying that “face covers containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face covers.”

According to Attractions magazine, the additional clarification follows last week’s policy update regarding the use of face mask covers when eating and drinking, clarifying that guests can only remove face covers “while eating or they drink actively, but they must be immobile and maintain an adequate physical distance. “

This week, Universal Orlando Resort also updated its facial coverage guidelines that prohibit masks with exhalation valves and meshes or holes of any kind, according to the report.

All four Walt Disney World theme parks, since their reopening, have required all guests over the age of 2, including cast members, to wear face covers at all times “except when dining or swimming.” According to the report, Disneyland Resort’s Downtown Disney District, which began a gradual reopening on July 9, received similar guidelines.

Here are the guidelines as established in the official Walt Disney World website:

“Facial covers are required for all guests (ages 2 and up) and cast members. Bring your own face covers and wear them at all times, except when eating or swimming. You can remove the covering from your face while actively eating or drinking, but you must stand and maintain adequate physical distance. All face covers (either disposable or reusable) must:

  • Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material.
  • Completely cover nose and mouth and secure under chin
  • Fits perfectly but comfortably against the side of the face
  • Make sure with ties or ear hooks and allow the Guest to remain hands free ”

“At this time, based on the guidance of the health authorities, neck gaiters, triangle open-chin scarves, and face liners containing valves, mesh material, or orifices of any kind are not acceptable face liners.”

“Costume masks are also not considered appropriate and their use is prohibited, according to our existing rules.”

“The use of facial coatings is not a substitute for physical distancing.”
