In related news, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort announced on Friday that the long Halloween Horror Nights would be canceled this year.

Disney has tightened health and safety restrictions at Walt Disney World in Florida and Downtown Disney in California.

Specifically, the company has updated its definition of what type of mask requires all guests over the age of 2 to wear at the venues.

Neck gaiters and open-chin triangle scarves are no longer acceptable to cover your face, Disney said in the update. According to park websites, the masks should fit snugly but snugly against the side of the face, be secured with ties or ear muffs, and be made of breathable material, either disposable or reusable.

Guests are also not allowed to drink or eat while walking. They can remove the masks to consume food and drinks only while they are immobile.

The four theme parks at Disney World are now open, but with greatly diminished capacity. In Southern California, only Disneyland’s Downtown Disney shopping and dining district is open. Plans to reopen the theme park portion and tourist hotels are on hold during the increase in COVID-19 cases in the state.

In related news, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort announced on Friday that the long Halloween Horror Nights would be canceled this year due to the pandemic.

“We know that this decision will disappoint our fans and guests. We are also disappointed. But we hope to create an incredible event in 2021,” read a statement from Universal Studios Hollywood.

Universal Orlando reopened entirely, like Disney World, with a reduced attendance limit. The Universal Studios Hollywood theme park portion remains closed, but the CityWalk shopping and dining district is open.
