Dismembered body of tech entrepreneur found in luxury Manhattan condo | United States News

The dismembered body of 33-year-old tech entrepreneur Fahim Saleh was found inside his luxurious Manhattan condo, where a chainsaw was left behind, police in New York said.

Saleh was found around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday inside his seventh-floor apartment on the Lower East Side. There have been no arrests in connection with his death yet.

A relative called the police after going to see Saleh. Responding officers discovered a dressed torso, head and arm bags and the electric saw in the living room, police said.

Investigators also retrieved the security video showing Saleh exiting an elevator leading directly to the full-floor two-bedroom apartment earlier Tuesday afternoon, closely followed by someone dressed all in black, including a mask, according to a law enforcement officer who was briefed on the case. It also shows a fight between the two at the entrance to the apartment, said the official, who was not authorized to discuss the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Police believe the relative may have interrupted the intruder before fleeing through a rear exit.

The medical examiner ruled that the death was a homicide after an autopsy discovered that the cause of death was multiple stab wounds to the body.

Saleh was the CEO of a new motorcycle company, Gokada, which started operating in Nigeria in 2018.

The company confirmed his death on Twitter on Wednesday and said: “Fahim was a great leader, inspiration and positive light for all of us.”

Investigators were exploring whether the murder could have been related to Saleh’s business. They were reviewing video from the neighborhood security camera to try to locate the suspect.

Saleh’s LinkedIn bio described him as a self-taught businessman who founded Gokada based on his experience of “seeing an opportunity in his parents’ home country of Bangladesh” and starting the country’s largest ride-sharing company. He said he also invested in a similar company in Colombia.
