Director-actor Nishikant Kamat died on Monday at AIG Hospital in Hyderabad, following a battle with liver cirrhosis. He was 50.
In a statement, AIG Hospital said: ‘Mr Nishikant Kamat (50 years old, Male) was admitted to AIG hospitals on 31 July 2020 with complaints of fever and excessive fatigue. It has been diagnosed that he has had liver cirrhosis for the past two years. Initially, we started antibiotics and supportive medications, which showed Mr. Kamat improvement, but his condition quickly deteriorated with progressive liver function and lethargy. He was immediately transferred to the ICU, where his general condition gradually declined. Since yesterday, he has developed respiratory failure and hypotension. Despite the maximum efforts of Hepatologists, Gastroenterologists, Pulmonologists and Intensivists, his condition eventually deteriorated and led to multiple organ failures. Today, by noon, his vital parameters began to diminish, and by 1624 hours he was succumbing to his illness. Our condolences are with his family, friends and fans. ”
Nishikant Kamat made his government debut in 2005 with the Marathi film Dombivali Fast, which won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi. He made his silver screen debut in 2004 with the Hindi film Hava Aney Dey. In 2008, Kamat released his first Bollywood film Mumbai Meri Jaan.
Nishikant Kamat has cut his own space in Bollywood over the years. He directed Hindi films such as Force, Drishyam, Rocky Handsome and Madaari. Kamat was also known for his appearances in Daddy, Rocky Handsome, Julie 2 and Bhavesh Joshi.

Nishikant Kamat did not limit himself to just movies. He also dabbled in other mediums. He was the creative producer of the web series The Final Call and Rangbaaz Phirse.
