Democrats resigned, saying Amy Connie Barrett’s confirmation was inevitable: “We can’t stop the result.”

Democrats hate Judge Amy Connie Barrett’s confirmation process – treating election-year efforts as illegal, dangerous and hypocritical – admitting they can do little to stop his life sentence in the Supreme Court.

With a Republican Senate majority and votes likely to confirm Barrett, Democrats say they do not have the silver bullet to stop the fast-tracking confirmation schedule starting Monday.

D-Dale, Sen. Chris Koons said, “There is no procedural move that I am aware of. Minorities allow this process to slow down at all.” “And trust me, I’ve asked a lot.

“It’s one of those things that I think the general public doesn’t appreciate much of until then [GOP] The majority is willing to change the rules and insist on moving forward when it is insecure, intelligent and unprecedented to do so, there is nothing [Democratic] Minorities can stop them. “

The Republicans have a majority of 53 seats in the Senate. Only two GOP senators – Alaska’s San Lisa Murkowski and Maine’s San Susan Collins – rejected pressure from the Barrett nomination just days before the presidential election. Four years ago Republicans blocked President Obama’s Merrick Garland candidate on the grounds that his March 2016 nomination was too close to the November election, as the American public said.

Kunse said the only shot at stopping the confirmation process was to persuade at least two Republicans four years ago, Murkowski and Collins, to stay in their positions until the presidential election is decided.

“We need two more to join them … the belief is justified,” Kuns said Wednesday. “I’m not optimistic it will happen.”

And the confirmation process is likely to stall if the coronavirus does not appear physically to vote on the nomination on the Republican side of the Judiciary Committee and on the Senate floor, an aide told Fox News.

While confirmation testimony can be made remotely on Monday, all 12 G.O.P. A physical quorum of senators is required to vote on the nominee from the committee on the date set for October 22.

A Democratic aide told Fox News: “A lot will depend on whether they can form a quorum, both on the committee and then on the floor.”

Two senators with coronavirus – Republican Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Mike Lee of Utah – serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee and will likely return to Washington for committee markup on Oct. 15 and votes on Oct. 22. a. Third, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson said he would show up on the Senate floor and vote for Barrett “in a moon suit” if necessary.

The problem for Democrats is that Republicans control the committee and could potentially change the rules on the fly to prevent Democrats from getting bored in the process.

San Dick Durbin, D-Ill, said he and other Democrats on the Judiciary Committee there could do very little because they are in the minority.

Durbin told ABC’s “This Week” on September 27, “We can slow it down in a matter of hours, maybe most days, but we can’t stop the result.”

He said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Q. “It’s useless to get this done before the election.”

The real question for Democrats is because Republicans have the votes and power, should they also show up for the Justice Committee hearing on Monday, said Chris Adelson, an assistant professor of government at American University.

Democrats want to hold their own counter-programming event, focusing on issues that should be faced by the Senate, rather than normalize the hearing by their means.

“As a Democratic senator, I can say: ‘If I attend this hearing, will I legalize it? Am I exposing myself and possibly others to the virus? ” Adels told Fox News.

Nov. The historic hearing will take place a few days before the Nov. election, which will determine the presidency and control of the House and Senate. Voting is already underway across the country, and Democrats are getting a little favor in gaining a seat in the Senate as more Republican members than Democrats are in a weaker race this year.

A Democrat told Fox News that Barrett’s confirmation is “more or less inevitable” and the best way for Democrats to win in November is to get down in the mud during the confirmation fight and avoid attacking Barrett but instead make the house a bigger picture of coronavirus, health care and Issues like the economy.

Indeed, Democrats have portrayed President Trump’s nominee as a vote against the Affordable Care Act and abortion rights, an issue they believe will resonate with voters. Many Democratic senators, including Kuns, have said they would avoid questioning Barrett about his involvement in Catholic faith or religious organizations, which could become a political landmark as Republicans prepare to be overthrown.

An aide said Democrats will focus on the Affordable Care Act scheduled in the Supreme Court a week after the election because there is a reality that Barrett may have a decisive vote on whether healthcare law is upheld.

“At the end of the day, the election is important and there are 53 Republican senators and 51 of them on record say they want to move this confirmation forward,” the aide told Fox News, and so the minority there could do very little while the filibuster long Not applicable until time. “
