A woman who became the world’s oldest female skydiver has died at the age of 88.
Delis Price, a former teacher from Cardiff, was terrified when she made her first jump in the fifties.
But she completed hundreds of parachute jumps around the world, setting a Guinness World Record for the oldest female solo parachute jump.
She also founded the Touch Trust Charity Champion Arts and Creative Movement programs for people with disabilities.
Learning Disability Wells said she “changed the lives of a lot of people with disabilities and people with autism”.
In 2018, Mrs Price told BBC Wales: “Skydiving is my passion, there you have the ultimate beauty of the sky … you just feel independent.”
Since she started playing when she was 54, she has completed over 1,139 singles worldwide.
She was no ordinary skydiver – with a background in drama and dance, she specialized in air acrobatics and freestyle.
At the University of Wales Trinity St David, where she was an honorary fellow, she said she was a “remarkable, amazing and inspiring” woman.
Mark James Prairie tweeted: “It is very sad that my aunt Delipris B has passed away. She touched so many people with her incredible personality and really lived life. Inspiration for all. Truly thankful that she calls me my aunt.” We will miss you. “
At age 80, former Cardiff College Ledger of Education set a Guinness World Record for the oldest solo parachute jump (female).
At age 86, she sold her parachute, but continued to skydive with former Wales rugby star Gareth Thomas.
He was awarded the OBE Award in 2003 for his services to people with special needs, and in 2017 was honored for his work at the Pride Britain Awards.
In 2018, she joined the list of 100 women who have influenced Welsh life.
Back in 2018, on the model of Helmut Lang, Mrs. Price said she wanted to inspire older people to stay active.
He said: “We only get one shot at life”.
