Deathloop delayed to next year, Arkane says

Deathloop, the next match from Dishonored en Prey makers Arkane Studios, has been postponed until spring 2021, the studio said Tuesday morning.

In a message sent by Twitter, Arkane attributed the delay to work disruptions caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic. “While adapting to the work from home, we found that delivering this new and exciting experience, at the Polish and quality level that defines both an Arkane game and a true next gen experience, takes longer than normal.”

Deathloop, announced at E3 2019, was originally given a launch window in the last quarter of this year, as a timed console exclusive to PlayStation, both PS4 and the new PlayStation 5. Arkane, in line with its reputation for delivering stylish thrillers , says Deathloop gives the player tasks in solving the mystery of an anomaly of a time loop, and removes the eight bad guys who are responsible for maintaining it.

Colt, the player character, will also exert supernatural powers, and adopts a rival killer, Julianna, who can be played by another person in the game’s online mode.

“This extra time allows our team to take part Deathloop‘World in life with as much character and fun as you would expect from our team,’ Arkane wrote. ‘While we know this is the right decision Deathloop, we share your disappointment, and apologize for waiting any longer. “
