DC Universe Online has built legions of fans throughout its almost decade of existence, providing hours of gaming opportunities inspired by DC Comics characters. The game has years of “episodes” interwoven in different corners of the DC universe, and it seems that the newest is fast approaching. On Thursday, Dimensional Ink Games and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment officially released “Wonderverse,” the latest in-game event and episode. Wonderverse will allow players to take up arms with the Council of Wonder Women (Nubia, Flashpoint Wonder Woman, Red Son Wonder Woman, and more) as their universes collapse. Together, they must confront the Gods of Olympus and the New Gods to repair the cracked Source Wall and restore order before it is too late.
“It’s something that nobody really thought about, but when I mentioned it in DC, they said, ‘That’s amazing. Why haven’t we done that before? “And I say:” I don’t know! Dibs. It’s my idea, “DCUO creative director SJ Mueller recently told ComicBook.com. They even love the title the team came up with.”
“I just had this idea of: We have a Batman tip from the different multiverses, and we have a tip from Lex Luthors,” Mueller continued. “Obviously Wonder Woman has grown in popularity and main appeal, even though she’s been amazing forever. She’s huge. I thought, ‘I really want to do a great Wonder Woman episode, but we’ve already done Amazon Fury, which was a three-part story arc featuring Wonder Woman very prominently. What can we do now “And the only thing that really jumped into my mind was:” More Wonder Woman! More Wonder Woman! “So now we have our Wonder Women advice from several different universes in the DC multiverse.
Wonderverse will introduce new daily and weekly open-world missions, raid-like world bosses, a new Solo and Alert, as well as Normal and Elite versions of a new raid. It will also introduce fans to the version of the game from Grail, also known as the daughter of Darkseid.
“I think that was the big surprise. As if no one expected Grail to be part of Wonderverse,” Muelller told us. “She herself is a multiversal character, because she becomes interdimensional. She is the daughter of Darkseid, yes, Darkseid and Myrina. So she is half Amazon, half Darkseid and is like this perfect representation of these things that collide in this episode.” Ancient gods, such as the Greek gods, the heavenly gods, and the Celtic gods. And then you have the new gods as they call themselves: Darkseid, Orion, Steppenwolf, Kalibak. Old Gods versus New Gods is a great theme that we have in this episode. “
