Legend of washington Darrell Green He says TMZ Sports … there should only be one route Dan snyder It takes when it comes to renaming your NFL franchise, and that goes by the nickname “Red Tails.”
“I would say that would be my first and only option right now,” says the Hall of Fame cornerback.
Of course, Red Tails was the nickname given to the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African American pilots who fought in World War II with planes that had red paint on their tails.
Green says it would be an incredible move for Snyder to call his team that … this after decades of holding on to the controversial and downright racist nickname “Redskins”.
“The Red Tails are some of the greatest heroes of any color in our country,” says Green, “and particularly against the extraordinary horrors that Tuskegee airmen faced.”
Green’s endorsement of the name comes just days after the Washington QB franchise, Dwayne Haskins, also launched its support behind the potential new pet.
Green tells us that Snyder or someone from the Washington organization has not yet asked for his opinion … but he hopes they will contact him soon.
“I would love to be a part of future discussions,” says Green.
Meanwhile, Darrell is working on a cool project with other NFL players … helping to raise awareness and money for minorities who have been affected during the coronavirus pandemic.
