Dallas Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis (searess in the right knee) has been updated to likely for Wednesday’s Game 2 against the LA Clippers.
A source told ESPN that Porzingis had irritation in the knee but hopes to play in Game 2.
Meanwhile, Clippers guard Patrick Beverley was added to the report on the afternoon injuries, named as doubtful due to a left calf strain. Beverley missed the last five games of the seeding schedule with a penalty from left calf, but started Game 1, scoring eight points in eight minutes.
The 7-foot-3 Porzingis missed 10 games in late December and January due to pain in his right knee. He tore the ACL in February 2018 in his left knee in what eventually became his last game with the New York Knicks and sat out the entire 2018-19 season when he was traded to Dallas.
Porzingis had 14 points and six touchdowns in the Mavs’ Game 1 loss Monday before being sent off early in the third quarter when he was whistled for his second technical foul, stemming from a confrontation with Clippers striker Marcus Morris Sr.
Porzingis, who is in his first playoff series, averages 20.4 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game in the regular season. He earned second-team All-Bubble recognition after averaging 30.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks during the seeding schedule on the NBA’s Walt Disney World campus.
