Cyberpunk 2077 will have free DLC

CD Project Red recently confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will have at least some free DLC packs.

The news comes from Twitter, where one of the company publicly asked if Cyberpunk 2077 would include free DLC in the same vein as The Witcher 3. CD Project Red responded quickly via the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account, posting a unforgettably untimely “Oh Yeah” Kool-Aid GIF.

Check out the exchange below.

It is worth noting that this does not mean that the game does not have paid DLC either. The Witcher 3 got two huge expansions after the launch – Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine – which were really cheap, but definitely not free.

On the contrary, the free DLC packages for The Witcher 3 included alternative cosmetics for certain characters, or added new contracts such as the “Missing Miners” mission.

That said, although CD Project Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will have free DLC, it will likely appear in the form of various outfits for Jackie, as an additional quest to take on during your second playthrough. More major expansions will launch almost unsold than paid DLC.

In related news, CD Project Red recently told VG247 that it is not 100% happy with melee combat in Cyberpunk 2077, and is actively working on trying to fix it.

We also learned many other interesting goodies about the game – for example, “there is always a way to go without killing anyone”, which means that pacifist runes are possible for those who would rather avoid violence for diplomacy and / or subterfuge. Additionally, you can actually complete Cyberpunk 2077 without completing the main quest.
