Curtis Blades vs. Derrick Lewis dropped out of the main event UFC Vegas 15

UFC Vegas 15 just lost its main event.

Saturday night’s card in Las Vegas stretches the heavyweight fight between Curtis Blades and Derrick Lewis.

According to multiple sources speaking at MMA Fighting on Friday, Blades tested positive for the Covid-19, which apparently forced the UFC to cancel the main event. Preliminary talks have been held to reschedule the heavyweight fight for a later date in December but nothing has been decided yet.

First reported by News ESPN.

Blades and Lewis were placed on a collision course after a recent victory where both fighters showed interest in the fight.

Currently leading four-fight winning streak, Blades was on a mission to get heavyweight title shots by knocking out opponents like Junior Dodos Santos and Alexander Volkov in recent performances. The only fault on Blades’ UFC record is a pair of losses to Francis Nagnau but otherwise he has remained unbeaten with 10 wins within the octagon.

As for Lewis, the former heavyweight title contender has won three in a row by knocking out Alexei Olinik in his most recent outing.

Unfortunately it appears that both Blades and Lewis will have to wait until the next date to possibly collide now that their main event fight has been canceled.

The current co-main event for the UFC Vegas 15 card features a lightweight showdown between Anthony Smith and Devin Clark.
