Cuba Gooding Jr. has been charged with raping a woman twice, according to a civil lawsuit filed on Tuesday.
The Oscar-winning actor is accused of assaulting the unnamed woman in 2013 in a hotel room in New York.
A legal representative for Mr. Gooding, Mark Jay Heller, said the allegations were not true.
The actor has previously had to deal with claims that he was dating several women, but this is the first time he has been accused of rape.
The woman, identified only as Jane Doe, said she met Gooding in August 2013 at a bar in Manhattan and was invited to join for drinks at a nearby hotel.
The actor said he had to change his clothes, and invited her to his hotel room.
The lawsuit alleges that Mr. Gooding then raped her. She is looking for a jury trial as damages and punitive damages.
Mr. Heller told The New York Times that the allegations in the lawsuit were “completely false and defamatory.”
He also noted that the accusations over the past seven years have not resulted in criminal charges.
The indictment comes a year after the actor in New York pleaded not guilty to accusing the girls of three different women in nightclubs in the city.
Those criminal cases have not yet been resolved. Mr Gooding’s trial was due to begin in April but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier this month, Mr Gooding attended a hearing in New York and wore a face mask of Black Lives Matter in the courtroom.
Mr Gooding, 52, won Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 1997 for the film Jerry Maguire and is known for roles in films including A Few Good Men and The Butler.
In 2016, he was nominated for an Emmy Award for his leading performance in the TV miniseries The People v. OJ Simpson.
Two years later, he died as Billy Flynn in a West End production in Chicago.
