Cristiano Ronaldo tests positive for coronavirus


According to the statement, Ronaldo is “well, without symptoms and in isolation.”

The 35-year-old Juventus forward played for Portugal in the League of Nations on Sunday and in a friendly against Spain last week.

Ronaldo will now include his country’s next Nations League match against Sweden on Wednesday, as well as Juventus’ next matches, including a Serie A clash with Croton and a Champions League group game against Dynamo Kiev.

After Ronaldo’s positive test, the Portuguese Football Federation also said that every player then returned a negative test on Tuesday morning.

International pause

Despite large cases of Covid-19 around the world, many footballers have left their clubs to play international games.

However, some clubs have not fielded players from their home countries, including Austrian RB Salzburg, whose players have been called up for Mali, Cameroon, Zambia, Austria and Hungary.

Ronaldo returned to his native Madeira earlier this year when coronavirus cases began to grow across Europe and football was suspended, Reuters reported.

He then helped Juventus lift the Serie A title after the league resumed.
