Ken Jennings apologizes.
This Crisis! Champ, the consultant producer and soon-to-be interim host, said in a series of messages on Wednesday that he had tweeted “some unnecessary and sensitive things” over the years. He explained that many of the words “acted as jokes” in his head, but he “was horrified to see how they read on the screen.” He did not delete them because he thought they would be “whitewashed by mistake,” but he said not everything he said in the past was a standout.
“Sometimes I say dumb things and apologize to people who were (justly!) Offended,” Jennings said. “I didn’t mean to hurt anyone, but it doesn’t matter; I’ve gotten worse, and I’m really sorry. “
In a final post on the subject, Jennings said, “If 2020 has taught us anything, we should be kind to each other. I am moving towards 2021 with that in mind. ”

Jennings’ comments came less than two weeks ago, when he will begin his term as interim host. Crisis! Following the death of former host Alex Trebek in November.
The announcement that Jennings would release the links was not surprising Crisis! Fans, who know them well. He first appeared on the show in 2003, when he appeared in 74 consecutive games – the longest winning streak in the show’s history. In 2011, he played famously and lost to IBM Computer Watson. He hit the fellow Crisis! Champs James Holzier and Brad Rutter to win the show gAll time retest Tournament in primetime. Jennings is therefore associated Crisis! That he joined the show as a consultant producer and started giving links somewhere when the 37th season began in September.
That doesn’t mean everyone is happy with the announcement that Jennings will temporarily step into the role of Trabeck. Actress Yvette Nicole Brown And others on Twitter protested the choice, citing his past tweets. According to EndeavorBrown pointed to one of the September 22, 2014 episodes in which Jennings said, “There is nothing sadder than a warm person in a wheelchair.” Four years later, when someone retweeted his words, he addressed them. Jennings said, “I never hit for this in public but I personally apologized for hurting the angry / personally hurt people,” Jennings said. “It was such an inappropriate joke that it meant something different in my head [and] I apologize for the competent reading about it. This tweet has since been deleted.
