A Microsoft Store page for the game includes one more small symbol next to the game’s price tag, suggesting that the game “offers in-app purchases” of some sort. It is still unclear how they will work, but microtransactions were previously added to Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled in August 2019 as part of a post-launch update.
In the racing spin-off, players could buy Wumpa Coins with real-world money, with which they could buy cosmetics to trick their karts. Since Crash Bandicoot 4 already offers pre-order skins for its main characters, we could see a similar system here.
