Denver (CBS4) – A new form of the Colorado-19 virus, which is considered more contagious, has been found in Colorado. Government Jared police and state health officials have released the first case of Colorado’s COVID-19 variant B.1.1.7, which was previously found in the United Kingdom.
“The Colorado State Laboratory confirmed and notified the case to the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The man is a 20-year-old man currently in solitude in Albert County and has no travel history.
“The person is recovering in isolation and will remain there until cleared by public health officials. The person does not yet have close contacts known, but public health officials are working to identify other potential cases and contacts through full contact tracing interviews. “
Public health officials said they are conducting a full investigation.
“We don’t know much about this new COVID-19 variant, but scientists in the United Kingdom are warning the world that it is significantly more contagious. The health and safety of Colorado is our priority and we will be closely monitoring this case as well as all the COVID-19 indicators. We are working to spread and prevent the virus at all levels, ”said the government-appointed Jared Police.
Officials said Colorado State Lab was the first in the country to quickly identify the variant through a sophisticated analysis of test samples.
Scientists in the United Kingdom believe that the B.1.1.7 variant of the Saras-Co-2 variant is more contagious than previously known strains, although the symptoms are not more severe.
Currently approved vaccines are considered to be effective against this variant.
Jill Hanskar Ryan, executive director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, said Colorado was the first in the nation to discover this type of certificate. “We are currently using all available tools to protect public health and reduce the spread of this diversity.”
Government police and state officials will give more details at a press conference tomorrow morning.
