A new case of COVID-19 has been reported today, with a total of 490 county residents testing positive for the virus.
On Tuesday, the Health Care System Capacity Alert Level, one of three counties indicating the county’s ability to respond and manage COVID-19 cases, has gone from green to yellow due to a recent increase regarding COVID-19. Hospitalized. All three categories of the overall alert level assessment tool are now at level 2, or yellow.
Thirty have been hospitalized since the epidemic began, with only seven of them in September. Local hospitals last week reached an inpatient census count of five COVID-19 patients currently admitted to a four-patient hospital in Humboldt County. Three persons under the age of 60 are in need of inpatient care.
Hamblet County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich has urged residents of the area to use all preventive measures to continue the limited transmission of the virus.
“The health care system capacity describes the attitudes of hospitalized COVID-19 patients, infections among health care workers, and the availability of critical medical resources,” said Dr. Frank Frankovich. “Currently our local health care system has a good response capacity, it is important to remember that even when our overall case rate is lower than in many areas of the state, we may see an increase in hospital admissions. The move from green to yellow in our warning system underscores the importance of the health care system in our COVID-19 response efforts. ”
