Press release from Humboldt County Joint Information Center

Nine additional cases of COVID-19 have been reported today. An earlier reported positive case and death appointment was assigned to the person’s residence county. The total number of county residents who tested positive for the virus is now 5,695, and there have been nine deaths.

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich said the residence listed on the deceased’s death certificate was outside the county. This ultimately determines where the case is assigned.

Of the 125 cases reported today in November, more than 58 times the number reported in October.

Dr. “The case and the rate of positivity are not as serious as we are seeing in some areas of the state, but the pace of growth here is very relevant,” Frankovich said. “It simply came to our notice then. There is a risk of bringing people in for a visit. Now is the time to be extra vigilant so we can get together when it is safe to do so with all our loved ones. “
