Humboldt County Joint Information Center Press Release:

Humboldt County’s confirmed COVID-19 case count increased to 149 after five additional cases were reported today.

Of the residents who tested positive recently, most contracted the virus through travel to attend meetings or participate in local gatherings. Travel by friends and family in and out of our county and subsequent meetings with people outside the family unit are high risk for the people involved and the community at large.

Dr. Teresa Frankovich, Humboldt County Health Officer, said: “Based on our current case investigations, we expect to see an increase in cases in the coming days as these people’s contacts are evaluated.”

Dr. Frankovich reiterated that each time more than one household is assembled, there is an increased risk of exposure. “Once again, we can stay safe if we stay within our household groups,” he said.
