Humboldt County Joint Information Center Press Release:

Humboldt County’s COVID-19 case count is 228, after seven additional cases were reported today.

Travel in and out of the county and gatherings of friends and family continue to be major drivers of new infections, according to Dr. Teresa Frankovich, Humboldt County Health Officer. “Many of the places where local residents travel or receive visitors experience much higher rates of COVID-19 infections, making it more likely to interact with someone who is sick with COVID,” he said.

The California State Health Officer and Dr. Frankovich have asked residents to stay close to their home and limit travel as much as possible. “We are very fortunate to have some of the most beautiful areas in the world here in our backyard,” said Frankovich. “I would encourage everyone to take advantage of that and postpone or cancel any non-essential trips out of the area. And please ask your friends and family to wait for a safer time to visit you here at Humboldt. It is the best way to protect your family and your community. “
