Press Release from Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

A tenth county resident has died with COVID-19, and 26 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported today. That brings the total number of county residents who tested positive for the virus to 1,163.

The man who died was in his 80s and tested positive at the time of his death.

The outbreak at the Grenada Rehabilitation and Wellness Center quickly after the first positive case was found through routine testing. A total of 54 residents and 16 employees tested positive for the virus, and that number could continue to rise. Humboldt County Deputy Health Officer Dr. Josh Anis said the current level of disease transmission is unprecedented in the county. He said the spread of skilled nursing facilities is a marker for a wider disease, but it is also likely to be reflected in the community.

Dr. Anis added that our community facility has not erupted, and that transmission in our county can be greatly expanded through it, emphasizing that cases outside the facility still make up the majority of cases in the county. “We are a community. At this stage of the epidemic, actions taken by one of us can affect all of us. We should all take part in keeping our loved ones healthy. ”
