Humboldt County Joint Information Center Press Release:

Three new cases of COVID-19 were reported today, bringing to 364 the total number of residents of the province who tested positive for the virus.

Deputy Health Care Officer of Humboldt County Dr. Josh Ennis noted that demographic data on known cases of the province show that there are disproportionate consequences for the Latino and Spanish community and, as we have recently seen, for Indians.

“It is important to note that this is not due to increased activity with risks or lack of compliance with safety measures,” said Drs. Ennis. “People working on the front lines in the service and agricultural sectors, for example, may have more workplace exposure to the general public than employees. Public Health and our response partners are working with our entire community to limit the spread of this virus, especially in groups that are at greater risk of contracting COVID-19. ”

Ennis went on to say that Public Health is partnering with LatinoNet, Centro del Pueblo and the Humboldt County Office of Education to host a Virtual Town Hall on Monday, August 31, from 6-7: 30 a.m. to address Spanish-language concerns. community.
