Humboldt County Joint Information Center Press Release:
Six additional cases of COVID-19 were reported today, bringing the total number of Humboldt County residents to 299 who contracted the virus.
Of the 299 confirmed cases, 161 were contracted through contact with a known business, 70 were purchased through travel and 43 were communications transmission. The means of transmission for 25 remaining cases are still being investigated by the public health contact training teams. That process often requires interviews with many people in an attempt to identify how the virus was acquired and if no source is found, they are considered community-acquired.
Dr. Humboldt County Health Officer Teresa Frankovich said it can be difficult for a person who carries the virus to remember each person or place they came in contact with in the last ten days, how long their interaction lasted, at what distance and whether masks were the worn all the time. “All of this is important information to have in surveys so we can work to limit the spread of COVID in our community,” she said. “If you stay at home as much as possible, avoiding collusion with those who live outside your household, distance and use of face masks remain important ways to limit the spread of COVID.”
