COVID-19: SLO County Reports Record Day with 72 New Cases

Sixth reported death in the county

–San Luis Obispo County reported 72 new cases of coronavirus between Monday and Tuesday starting at 1:30 p.m. M., Which brings the total number of people who tested positive for COVID-19 locally from March to 1,078.

A sixth San Luis Obispo county resident died from the virus, the county’s Department of Public Health reported Tuesday. The person was 90 years old and lived in a long-term care facility, and was not hospitalized, according to reports.

There are currently 374 active cases of the coronavirus in SLO County. On June 1, the county reported only 17 active cases. The hospitalization rate has been relatively stable with 14 patients currently hospitalized and six now in the ICU.

The county reports that 699 people have recovered from the virus, 359 are currently recovering at home. Click here for the latest statistics.

The county has been officially added to the state’s watch list due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases. Local officials warned that some companies in some sectors should prepare to close pending a state order. On Monday, the Governor ordered the closure of many sectors for indoor activities in all counties.

People at higher risk should stay home as much as possible and consider ways to get food and recipes delivered through family, social or business networks. All residents, regardless of risk factors, should take precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19.
